Green velvet

This pot and Starry night are only two of six cylindrical pots from this week's firings to make it. Oh well, just as well I am still experimenting. Another 4 need another re-glaze and re-fire and these will either work or won't. That's what ceramics is all about.

Starry night

Van Gogh's painting is what came to my mind when this came out of the kiln after two firings.

Tarah 20.1.96 - 12.3.10

1st fired pot

I used EHAMI and barium blue glazes - the cone went well over (6) and the pot was overdone. But interesting effects with the barium blue which suits the higher firing especially as I dipped the top (red and white clays) into the glaze and the white spots glow through.

2010 - more exploration

I started back at art school on Monday 3rd March and by Wednesday had made 18 vases - pretty rough and ready but as they are purely for glaze tests, I'm not focusing too much on form. Having said that, I let the thrown bases dry out too much overnight so they were difficult to turn the next day and the result is that they are all somewhat 'stolid' at the base rather than being more curved and elegant. However, you never know what might surprise once a few firings are underway. Heights range from 18-26cm
